Services:
Dissertation Consultation
- As a doctoral student, you can set up a dissertation consultation with one of the UAGC librarians where you will receive one-on-one assistance with the research component of your doctoral research project. To set up a consultation, click this link to send us an email with information to help us best serve you and a librarian will contact you to set up an appointment. Consultations usually last an hour. For more information about the consultation please refer to this Flyer.
Tutoring
Doctoral students can access 24/7 library tutoring in the Research Resource Center by taking the following steps:
1. To access the Research Resource Center (RRC) through your student portal by clicking on the Research Resource Center link under Learning Resources.
2. Once in the Research Resource Center select the Resources You'll Always Need link from the tools in the left portion of the screen.
3. Select the Library Resources button (here you’ll also find some helpful tutorials/tip sheets to assist you with research as well).
4. Scroll down to find the button for 24/7 Library tutoring at the bottom of the page.
- You can email us at library@uagc.edu or by clicking the Send us a message button in the top-right corner of the library's homepage.
Once a question is submitted it goes into the library inbox and will be answered by a librarian within one business day. Provide us as much detail as possible so we can make sure that we understand exactly what you need.

- To get the most out of your call with the librarian we ask that you have access the library website so we can walk you through any recommended search strategies or troubleshooting techniques during the session.

Interlibrary Loan
- If you come across an article that you would really like to use in your doctoral research project, but you can’t locate it within the library or on the web you can always put in an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request. This service allows you to get digital materials from other libraries at no cost to you. RefWorks
- RefWorks is a research management tool you can use to organize your research, create APA citations, and generate work cited and reference lists. For more information about RefWorks and how to create an account please see the RefWorks Job Aid.
ProQuest Dissertations and Theses PQDT
- ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (PQDT) is a database full of doctoral dissertations and theses. It is available only to doctoral students, including UAGC students and former Ashford and University of the Rockies students. SAGE Research Methods
- SAGE Research Methods (SRM) is a database with information about different research methods and steps in the research process. You can use it to learn about quantitative and qualitative methods, discover what methods are typically used in your discipline, and get help planning a research project from beginning to end.
